After seeing Bladerunner2049 last night, catching Greg Girard's work via Creativeboom this lunchtime I was struck by how much the 1970's held a similar look to the dystopian original film. His images of Hong Kong are evocative and beautiful in a seedy, noir way.
Growing up in Manchester I don't recall it looking like this. It probably did, if you were out and about in the underbelly of the early hours. Yet those black and white images of a young Joy Division leaving their fingerprints across Hulme and the desolate warehouses seem more like the reality of my youth.
